Admission

Turlock Adult School is open to all persons 18 or older; you do not need to be a Turlock resident. Concurrently enrolled high school students must have their counselor’s approval before enrolling in classes required for a high school diploma. The purpose of allowing concurrently enrolled students is to supplement and enrich the opportunity for qualified high school students to progress toward meeting the educational requirements for graduation from high school. Note: California Education Code mandates that adults have priority when enrolling in all courses.

Refund Policy

NO REFUNDS will be given unless a class is cancelled by Turlock Adult School. In certain circumstances, a voucher for the price of the class—minus a $15 processing fee—may be issued. Textbooks and online registration fees are not refundable, so please plan carefully.

Registration

Registration cannot be done over the phone. All students must register before attending class; registration at the door/auditing of classes is not allowed.  ABE, ASE, HSE, ESL, and Citizenship Preparation Enrollment
In order to comply with federal funding requirements, all Turlock Adult School students enrolling in the programs listed above are required to satisfy certain testing requirements. Testing is mandatory, but it shouldn’t be stressful—test scores are used to determine the quality of our instructional practices, not to judge the knowledge of individual students. Online registration is not available for these programs. Classes start the week of January 22nd.

New Students

All new students and students who have not attended Turlock Adult School prior to 2017 are required to attend an orientation session and complete a pre-enrollment test. Important: Please call 209-667-0643 or come to the office to make an appointment for orientation and testing.

Returning Students

Returning students who did not test with their class at the end of last semester must make a testing appointment before registering. Please call 209-667-0643 or come to the office to make your testing appointment.

High School Diploma Registration (ASE)

Adult high school diploma students must meet with a counselor after testing to register. Please call 209-667-0643 for counseling hours. Online registration is not available for high school diploma classes. Classes start the week of January 22nd.

Concurrent Enrollment

Currently enrolled high school students who wish to enroll in Turlock Adult School must first see their high school counselor and request a concurrent enrollment form. The form must be filled out completely and signed by the student, the student’s counselor, and a parent or guardian if the student is under 18. Class sizes are limited, so please register early. Need a high school diploma? Get one for free! Want to learn to speak better English? Do it for free! How about picking up some 21st-century job skills? You guessed it—totally free!

Principal Linda Alaniz and her staff work hard all year long to meet the needs of our community. Over the past few years, Turlock Adult School has taken advantage of opportunities to expand our programs, which has enabled us to offer a wider variety of courses and to offer most of them to you free of charge. It’s a lot of work, but you’re worth it!

Now for the fine print… even great bargains like a free education do come with some sort of cost, so we need to ask a couple of things of you—that you provide us with some personal information (which we will keep confidential, of course), and that twice a year you complete a test of basic knowledge, so we can prove to the government that we’re spending their money wisely. That’s it. As long as we meet those two requirements, we can continue to bring you great free programs that enhance lives and enrich our community.

And don’t forget, we also have some terrific fee-based classes that allow us to offer even more fun and fulfilling opportunities for personal enjoyment and growth. Turlock Adult School – bringing you good news for over 50 years!
